One of the most important things for a child’s birthday party – helpful for both the kids and adults – is to keep the children entertained! This can be easily done if enough activities are provided.
There are many games that the kids can play at the party, but it’s just as important to make the whole day special, especially for the birthday child.

Pass The Parcel:
This game is a tried and true favourite at kid’s parties, but why not play it in reverse as well? Separate the kids into teams and give each team the same number of paper sheets and something to wrap. See who can use all the pieces of paper first!
The Lucky Dip:
Lucky Dips are an easy activity that the kids will love. Fill a cardboard box with torn paper or Styrofoam if you have some, and hide presents inside it for the kids to find.
Musical Chairs:
This game is an old and favourite game and also so easy to play. Set up enough chairs for all but one in a circle and have the children walk around them as music plays. When the music stops they all have to sit down. The last one standing is out and a chair is removed before the music starts again.
Water-Bomb Soccer:
For this game, get all the kids outside and mark a line at one end of the yard using a piece of string. Give each child a large balloon filled with water then have a race to see who can kick their “soccer-ball” to the finish line first. The idea is to keep the water-bomb from bursting, but try telling some of the kids that!
Food Suggestions
There are lots of foods that kids love at parties, such as fairy-bread, cake and popcorn. But what kids really like is making a mess! Provide the kids with entertaining food that they can make themselves.
DIY Pizzas:
Set all the ingredients out on a table for them and let them decorate their own small pizzas using toast or English muffins. They can then play a game while lunch is cooking.
Funny Face Pikelets:
Make pikelets for the children and let them decorate them themselves. They can make faces out of them using things like jam, whipped cream, smarties and jelly beans.
Slam-Dunk Fairy Bread:
Provide the children with a paper plate and get them to make a picture on it using sprinkles. Give them buttered bread to slam down on to the picture and watch the sprinkles fly! You might have to do a lot of vacuuming later, but the kids will love it!
