Here’s some advice and tips for holding a Jungle and African Safari Party that your guests will surely love.
Decorations
Decorating the rooms is simple using cardboard and green poster paint for large leaves. You can even make vines by twisting green crepe paper and draping it from one end of the room to the other.
If you have potted plants, such as ferns, you can even bring them inside for the day to add to the mood. Hang bamboo blinds about the house to give a rustic safari feel to the place.
Use old stockings filled with torn cloth or newspaper to make snakes that you can drape about the trees and house.
Food Suggestions
Serve food such as hamburgers, pies or hotdogs – labelling them with exotic names such as Hippo Burgers, Snake Buns, and Tiger Pies.
For a Jungle theme, food such as bananas and pineapple is perfect. You could even make fruit salad and serve it in halved coconut shells for an exotic feel.
Games & Activities
Safari Tour:
You can hide toy animals about the yard or make painted cut outs from cardboard and paint. Arrange them through the yard, hidden in different spots. Make binoculars using cardboard tubes for each guest and take them on a guided tour, telling them to spot the animals if they can.
Wild River Crossing:
Make a river course in the yard by laying out sheets of blue paper or linen. Make cut outs of wild animals like hippos or crocodiles and lay them along the course. Guests pair up in teams with one person blindfolded and the other giving directions to navigate the course. See who can reach the finish line without stepping on one of the beasts!
Have the kids dress up in costume as jungle animals such as lions, panthers, rhinos and elephants, big game hunters or even Tarzan and Jane. Have a contest to see who can be the loudest animal in the jungle!
