Here’s some advice and tips for holding an Under The Sea Party that your guests will surely love.
Decorations
Decorate the room by hanging long strips of blue and green crepe paper from the ceiling. You can shade a lamp using blue cellophane (be sure to do it safely) to create the effect of an underwater playground. Use the cellophane to line the windows as well.
Use large sheets of coloured paper to make cut outs of coral reef to line the walls with. You can use the leftover pieces of paper to make fish that you can hang from the ceiling or place on the walls also.
To add to the mood you can make large seashells by cutting them out of paper plates, placing them around the room and on the walls. You could decorate them with paint and glitter for a shimmering sea effect.
Have Octopuses swimming about the room by hanging balloons from the ceiling and attaching streamers to them for legs. Draw faces on the balloons before you blow them up to avoid popping them.
Get the kids to blow their own bubbles and it’ll seem even more like they’re playing in the ocean!
Food Suggestions
Make a large bowl of green and blue jelly and fill it with gummy fish lollies or even jelly snakes for eels.
Fish Fingers are perfect for the day and you can also make your own chips, slicing the potatoes and cutting them into sea shapes such as ships, fish and shells.
Games & Activities
Lucky Dip Fishing:
Fill a large box with strips of blue and green paper and before the guests arrive make a fishing rood using a stick and string. Attach a different gift to each rod and hide them in the box. Guests choose a fishing rod to see what they’ve caught!
Have the kids dress up in costume as different sea creatures such as squid, sharks, fish, whales and even mermaids and mermen!
