Holding a Backyard Party is the perfect way to enjoy summer with friends. Here’s some advice and tips for holding a Backyard Party that your guests will surely love.

Music should be a big part of the day, so make sure to set a CD player outside. When inviting guests, suggest that they bring their own music for the day so everyone can listen to what they like.

Decorations

When holding a party in your backyard, make the best use of the space as you can.

Whether your yard is small or large, there are easy ways to liven up the area and make the day more enjoyable.

Decorate the fence with balloons and streamers. It will look even better if you choose a colour scheme for the day and find decorations to suit it.

You can also make a banner to hang across a fence or wall, brightening up the area.

Try to set out as many chairs as you can for the guests. A good idea is to also lay out blankets for guests to sit on, giving a picnic feel to the yard.

Before holding the party outside, be sure to make arrangements within the house in case of bad weather. If your guests have to suddenly move indoors you want them to be comfortable.

Food Suggestions

A Barbeque is a perfect idea for a backyard party. If this is what you have planned make sure to let your guests know in advance so they can bring food to cook themselves if they choose to.

To save trouble, set out a table laid with easily prepared food. This can be as simple as setting out potato salads and boiled eggs, crackers and dip.

You can also lay out bread and a large spread of ingredients so that guests can prepare their own sandwiches.

Games & Activities

There are many games you can offer the guests that are perfect for outdoors. Simply providing a soccer ball or football can be enough to get a game started.

-:- Backyard cricket
-:- Basketball shoot out
-:- Discus throwing using a frisbee.
-:- Egg and spoon race
-:- Relay race with batons
-:- Sack race
-:- Volley ball match

Readers Comments

Hey there. :-) I live in a small unit and we used some of your party ideas to have a party outside instead. It was much cooler and easier to clean up too. Thanks for the info.
